Harken back to ‘ ye olden times’ at the Mid- South Renaissance Fair

midsouthrenfaire.com M’lords and M’ladies looking for some fun with a little historical flair will want to head to Shelby Farms in Memphis later this month for the the 2nd Annual Mid-South Renaissance Faire!
The Gate entrance is Gate 10 on the Mullins Station Road side of the park, and upon entering, visitors will be transported to the bygone era of fair maidens and chivalrous knights.
New for this year, organizers have added pony rides and a petting zoo, a 'storm the castle' rock wall, skittles lawn bowling, a Renaissance art gallery, a brass rubbings station, and an official faire merchandise tent.
Performer highlights include Paragon Jousting, a nationally known husband and wife team from New York. Paolo Garbanzo will be returning with his comedy juggling show and this time bringing with him Giacomo the Jester. Also returning is the Scottish family trio bagpipe and drum band, Haggis Rampant.
The Faire is excited to announce new acts, Shelli Buttons (aerial arts, juggling, bottle walking), The Jackdaws (Celtic band) and The Lords of Adventure (hilarious comedy fight show). The complete list of entertainers is on the website under entertainment at midsouthrenfaire.com.
The faire will have vendors from all over the U.S., selling everything from chainmail and wooden swords and shields to hair braiding and costumes. There will be blacksmithing demos with Blue Dog Forge and martial weapons fighting demos by the Society for Creative Anachronisms.
Plus, turkey legs, beer and mead tastings, a costume contest, Elizabethan dancing and Knighting Ceremonies by the Queen of the Faire. Visitors can even bring their pooches in for the Dog Ruff contest (ruff as in Elizbethan neck ruff).
