Marion students join sweater drive
Keeping Crittenden County residents warm this winter
Marion School District The Mister Rogers' Neighborhood Sweater Drive is in full swing once again!
Last year, the Marion School District partnered with the Earle Library and Arkansas Educational Television Network for their annual Mister Rogers' Neighborhood Sweater Drive, collecting more winter jackets, sweaters and coats than all of the other collection points combined in Crittenden County.
“We are proud to participate again this year,” said Anne Creekmore, the liaison for this effort who oversees the collection box in the North Annex, by the tennis court, at Marion High School.
Neighbors helping neighbors: It was the impetus that drove Fred Rogers to inaugurate this notable sweater drive in 1997, and what drives the community of Marion to assist in this charitable legacy of sorts.
Donations are being accepted until Nov. 30.
“I'm asking all of our schools to please help us with the drive. All clothing collected stays in our county and goes to emergency shelters, Red Cross, and our neighbors who may be in need,” said Creekmore.
Gently worn and new items are both accepted.
Creekmore is willing to pick up your items if your schedule doesn't allow for a drop off.
