Patriots soar past Yellowjackets
Daidrick Cail picked up the win and an RBI in Marion’s two- run win over Wynne
Marion School District Marion baseball traveled to Wynne on Tuesday and came away with a 3-1 thanks to a strong performance by Daidrick Cail.
Cail pitched all seven innings for the Patriots and was impressive behind the plate as well.
Cail threw 87 pitches with five strikeouts against the Jackets. He allowed only three hits by Jackets with only one walk. At the plate, Cail had two of the Patriots’ four hits, including an RBI single in the 5th.
Slade Webb and Peyton Walker were the other Patriots to record a hit on Tuesday.
Will Griffin and Webb crossed the plate on two separate Jacket errors with two outs in the 7th to give the Patriots the lead.
Wynne committed seven errors in the game. The Jackets were unable to answer in the bottom the 7th, giving the Patriots their 12th win of the season.
Wynne used only one pitcher as well on Tuesday.
Zac Thomas threw 92 pitches and struck out six Patriot batters. Thomas’s only earned run was the Cail RBI single.
The Patriots will be back at home on Wednesday March 28 against the West Memphis Blue Devils.
The Patriots won two of the three meetings last year including a win in the state playoffs. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
