Is this a trick question?

Is this a trick question?

Yeah, there’s a line between trying to prove a point and looking like a fool trying to prove a point. And yes, Michael, there’s no doubt that “botched” is a great way to describe the Arkansas medical marijuana rollout.

From the very onset, lawmakers, agencies, courts and commissions have seemingly done everything they could do to bungle, mishandle, and delay this whole program. I’m sure all we need now is a blue ribbon, court-appointed, special-issue task force and consultant study to give us a better idea of how this whole thing should be implemented.

I love this latest ridiculousness. What, exactly is a “school.”

Yep, that’s exactly where we are… we can’t enact this voter-approved legislation because some politicians and their cronies can’t decide whether, ASU Mid-South or East Arkansas Community College or the University of Arkansas School of Law (a college which literally has the word “school” in its name) are actually what were intended when the creators of the Arkansas State Code used the word school.

You see, Michael, I’m a simple fellow. I like the idea that words simply mean what they are supposed to and they make sense. I’m going to use a teaching tool that has been proven to be a success throughout the years, despite lawmakers getting involved in the education process time and time again (Funny how they keep doing that, ain’t it?) — The Analogy.

So, let’s look at cats… I have a cat. When I tell you I have a cat, you might have never seen my cat, but you’ve got a pretty good idea of what a cat is. In fact, we all can pretty much agree that a cat is a cat and that is that.

Now, I might tell you that I saw a lion at the zoo.

Again, immediately, even without seeing the lion I saw, you know what a lion looks like. If I showed you a picture of any lion, you’d think, “Yep, that’s definitely a lion… fur, mane, big teeth, claws. Definitely a lion.

And if you paid attention in school, you’d know that the lion is a member of the “cat family,” right? Not a house cat, of course, but a large jungle cat, and definitely a member of the cat family, like tigers and pumas and cougars.

Stick with me here…

So, let’s look at schools… I went to school. When I tell you I went to school, you might have never been to my school, but you’ve got a pretty good idea of what a school is. In fact, we all can pretty much agree that a school is a school and that is cool.

Now, I might tell you that I went to college. Again, immediately, even without knowing what college I went to, you know what a college is. If I showed you a picture of a college campus, you’d think, “Yep, that’s definitely a college… buildings, students, library, football field. Definitely a college.

And if you weren’t dropped on your head a lot as a child, you’d know that a college is a member of the “school family,” right? Not a public school, of course, but a bigger version of a school, and definitely a member of the school family, like trade schools, vo-techs and universities.

And if that is confusing to these so-called experts, then there’s your real answer as to how this medical marijuana launch has been so screwed up from day one.
