‘ Back in Class’

‘ Back in Class’

Twas the first day of school and all through the city, the boys were all handsome, the girls looked so pretty.

The kids loaded up in the family sedan, the big yellow school bus or Mom’s minivan.

Off down West Barton or Patriot Drive, fighting the traffic and staying alive.

From kindergarten kids to the Class of ‘19, they all had their backpacks and they all made the scene.

From Earle to Marion, West Memphis and Hughes, the kids were all singing the back-to-school blues.

Crawfordsville, Turrell, and all points in between, the children awaited that school bell’s first ring.

New shoes, new teachers, new lockers, old friends, a sure sign that summer breaks all have their ends.

Now it’s time for the reading, the writing, and math, and finding the cross-campus way’s shortest path.

Teachers and students and staff are working away, and they all want to know…

when’s Labor Day?!?
