Has the Marion Primary Care Clinic closed. What about getting your records? [ Editor’s Note: By all indications, they are indeed closed. Unless I missed something, that was certainly out of the blue and unexpected. From the American Medical Association’s HIPPA section: “ When a practice closes, the physician or group is responsible for making appropriate arrangements for the disposition of all medical records — regardless of whether the records are in paper or electronic format. The possibility of a lawsuit after a physician has left or a practice has closed always exists. To help defend against any future claims, the retention of records is paramount.” Now, having said that, I do not know who exactly you would contact if there is no immediately obvious contact info. Perhaps one of our readers would know?]
*** It’s back to school time— new clothes, new backpacks, new schools and new friends. But for some children, old fears arise. For the student who stutters, the beginning of the school year is a time fraught with anxiety and doubt. Will my classmates like me? Will the teacher understand I may need a few extra seconds to get my words out? Will I be bullied?
One in five children may experience issues with fluency during early development. The Stuttering Foundation has help for students, parents and teachers. For practical help and up-to-date information, visit us at StutteringHelp.org.
[ Editor’s Note: You know, stut-tering used to be more common than it is these days. When I was a kid, I had three or four classmates with noticeable stuttering issues ( but then, no one seemed to have peanut allergies back then, so maybe it’s a tradeoff?). I can definitely see how stuttering could be a social or learning barrier, so thanks for sending this in. Hopefully, it will do someone some good]
*** If you’re going to three print days a week will you still have the paper on the internet?
[ Editor’s Note: What you can expect to expect next week when we change to an Early Week, Mid- Week, and Weekend print editions is something we are still fine tuning. I will say that yes, you will definitely still be able to get the Times five days a week online, as we will have a Tuesday and Thursday “ Times Plus” online- only edition to cover news and events that occur between print editions. “ The Times Is Changing!” has been our awkwardly- worded motto. What would you the reader like to see in the paper going forward? Let us know in Text the Times or on our Facebook page. We’d love to hear from you!]
*** Subject: Arkansas State Flag – Who’s responsible for the up keep on the Flag by the Walgreens in West Memphis? It needs to be replaced. (photo attached). [ Editor’s Note: As you can see, the flag is in pretty bad shape. From its location, I would assume the flag is under the City of West Memphis’s purview. If not, then perhaps Guranty Loan, as I believe they own the adjoining land on which it sits. It certainly is in need of replacement]
Here’s what everyone is talking about this week:
