Happy Hour Club

The Happy Hour Club met at the First United Methodist Church last Monday.

Becky Knapp, president, presided.

The group enjoyed a potluck luncheon. The tables were decorated with sunflowers.

Rev. Tony Wells gave the devotional and read “Rest In Him” by Daren Zehnle. The group sang “He Keeps Me Singing” led by Rev. Wells and accompanied by Jane Speed.

Door prize winners were Faye Thompson, Doris Gately, Laura Pritchard, Jane Speed, Ken Lancaster, Minnie McCain, Frankie Swindle and Adria Roberts. Faye, Adria and Jerry Carter were recognized as having September birthdays.

Others present were J. W. Ellis, Jimmie Barham, Dot McKinney, Vickey Wells, Sue Dorman, Helen Carter and Sue Ann Elms.


Gibson Bayou Homecoming Come and join us for the Annual Gibson Bayou Homecoming Sept. 15, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. three miles north of Earle on US Hwy. 149.

Events will include lots of raffles, a silent auction, live music, bake sale, freshcooked food, museum exhibits and lots of fun. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and pop-up tent if you have one.

This year we will have more prizes and more winners! The tickets will be $1 each or seven tickets for $5. The prizes will be a 50” RCA4K Ultra Hi-Def TV, a 36” Blackstone Flat Top Grill or, for the first time ever, a $300 cash prize!
