The Crittenden County Board of Election Commissioners will have a meeting on Monday, Aug.

Barton Ave., was recently awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant for the 2019-2020 school year by the U.S. Department of Education. Applications are now being accepted for a maximum of 100 students to participate in the program that will be held at Maddux Elementary School, 2100 E. Barton Ave.

Once the 100 positions are filled, all others will be placed on a standby list. Applications for children in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 may be picked up at Bethel AME Church or at Maddux Elementary School during back to school registration. The program director is Sheri Lowe and the site coordinator is Karmen McNutt.

— New meeting schedule: 1:30 p.m., on the first Thursday of each month; 5 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, at West Memphis City Hall, 205 S.

Redding St., in West Memphis. All meetings are open to the public.

• West Memphis School Eelection — The West Memphis School District is requesting a Tax Levy of 36.5.

This is an increase of 7.5 from the rate presently being levied. Early voting will be Tuesday, Sept.

3, 2019, through Friday, Sept.

6, 2019, and Monday, Sept.

9, 2019. All early voting will be at the Crittenden County Court House, from 8 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m. Election Day is September 10, 2019 and will be at the following locations from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Bragg Elementary, Faulk Elementary, Maddux Elementary, Richland Elementary, Weaver Elementary, Jackson-Wonder Elementary, East Junior High, West Junior High, Wonder Junior High, and West Memphis High School in West Memphis, and Bond’s Marine Store, in Hughes.

• West Memphis Lions Club — The West Memphis Lions Club holds their meetings every first Tuesday and third Tuesday of each month at Shoney’s at noon. Guests and new members are welcome. Anyone interested in more information can contact Willie Catha

• ASU Mid-South Annual Delta Market — Each Saturday this summer, through Sept. 7. Fresh produce, vegetables, arts and crafts vendors and specialty food. On the North Campus.

• Edmondson Wedlock Alumni Association —

EWAA is planning a special Labor Day Weekend event to celebrate the legacy of Edmondson and the Wedlock School. Raffle tickets will be up for sale and proceeds will go toward a scholarship fund for eligible students.

Organizers will solicit new members during weekend event that begins on Friday, Aug. 30, from 5 to 9 p.m., with a barbecue at the newly remodeled Roadside BBQ on Highway 147 at Lehi. On Saturday, Aug. 31, there will be a parade beginning at 9 a.m. at Lloyd Campbell Park. There will also be vendors, activities and a walk-through at the Wedlock Elementary School Also on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m., there will be a community gathering in Edmondson. Participants are encouraged to dress up, eat, drink and donate. From 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, there will be a picnic at the Wedlock Life Center, 201 B.J. Taylor St., Edmondson.

The EWAA’s goal is to support young people in their pursuit of their educational goals. A $45 donation will be required to participate in the entire weekend events.
