The Marion School District Foundation 3rd annual MSD Foundation tournament and fundraiser, Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Marion Golf & Athletic Club. Four-person scramble. The registration cost is $125 per person, or $500 per team. Registration on the morning of the event begins at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Awards will be presented at a special luncheon after play is completed. Lunch will be provided by Vaughn Catering. Proceeds to support the Marion Patriots athletic programs. • West Memphis Rotary Club Annual Golf Tournament — Monday, Aug. 19, at the Meadowbrook Country Club. A four-person scramble benefitting projects and programs of the West Memphis Rotary. Driving range opens at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is served at noon. 1 p.m. shotgun start. Bring your own team or be paired with other players. The cost is $75 per player or $300 per team (includes lunch and greens fees). Hole sponsorships are still available. $125 per hole or $400 for a hole sponsorship and a team entry. In a new program being launched this summer in a partnership with the Crittenden County Boys & Girls Club, West Memphis schools are going to offer girls volleyball through the school. Girls going into the fourth, fifth and sixth grades this fall can sign up for the program. Players of all skill levels are invited to play and can sign up at their school from Monday, Aug. 13 through Friday, Aug. 23. It is an affordable option for young girls looking to get into the sport. The cost is only $25. ***

You can signup as an individual or you can signup your entire team for the fall. There will be four divisions: 4-5 tee-ball, 6-8 coach pitch, 9-10 kid pitch, 11-13 kid pitch. ***

Sign-ups are underway now for a cornhole league, with play beginning Tuesday, Aug. 20. Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Sept. 26. Child care will be provided, as well as a snack bar. Play will be a two-on-two team format. Entry fee for the league is $30 a team ($15 per player if you want to enter as a single and be paired up with another single). There will be cash prizes for the top teams. • Boys & Girls Club Fall Sports — Registration is now underway for the 2019 fall sports season at the Crittenden County Boys & Girls Club. This year, the club will be offering a wide variety of sports and activities for local kids. Sign up now for: Flag Football for boys and girls ages 4-6; Tackle Football in two age divisions – Pee-Wee (ages 6-9) and Little League (ages 9-12); Cheerleading for girls ages 3-12; Volleyball for girls ages 7-13; Soccer for boys and girls ages 3-15. Fall sports fees are: Flag football — $60 for members ($70 for non-members); Pee-Wee and Little League Football — $80 for members ($100 for non-members); Soccer — $70 for members ($80 for non-members) with a special $60 rate for players who played in the spring season; Volleyball — $50 ($25 for players playing through the West Memphis School District program); Cheer — $50 for members ($60 for non-members, plus uniform cost). • Crittenden County Night at AutoZone Park — The Memphis Redbirds will welcome fans from this side of the river for “Crittenden County Night” at AutoZone Park, Thursday night, Aug. 22. West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon will throw out the first pitch. Come celebrate with the community. Game time is 7:05 p.m. ***

• Fall Volleyball Registration — At the J.W. Rich Girls Club, for girls 7 and up, and a senior division for women 1830 (if enough sign up). There’s a discount for those who sign up before July 30. • Big River Crossing Half-Marathon & 5K — Run Across the Mississippi River in the Big River Crossing Half-Marathon & 5K. It’s time to start training for one of the coolest and most unique races in the area: The Big River Half-Marathon & 5K. This half-marathon is the only one of its kind to allow participants to cross the Arkansas-Tennessee state line via the Big River Crossing. Both races begin at Tom Lee Park, but will take runners in two different directions. The 5K will direct runners through Downtown Memphis, and the half-marathon will bring runners down Riverside Drive, and then over Big River Crossing through the Big River Trail, a 7-mile paved path through the Arkansas floodplains with beautiful riverside views. Sunday, Nov 2, — 5K starts at 8 a.m.; half-marathon starts at 8:30 a.m. 5K Early Bird registration $25 (Rates go up after Aug. 31).
