• Earle Bulldogs Football — The Earle Bulldogs open their season with a home non-conf erence game vs. Central Cougars of West Helena, on Friday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Bulldogs Stadium. ***

• West Memphis Christian Football — The WMCS Black Knights (0-1) have an away conference game against Hebron Christian Academy in Pheba, Miss., on Friday, Aug.

• 3rd Annual Henry Bell Open — Saturday, Sept. 21, at Meadowbrook Country Club in West Memphis. Four-player scramble, with proceeds from the tournament helping to provided young Henry with equipment and resources to address his ongoing medical issues. Entry fee is $80 per person, $320 per team, which includes cart & greens fee, food, beverages and swag bag. There will be “closest to the pin” and “longest drive” prizes, as well as a cash prize for the winners. • Big River Crossing Half-Marathon & 5K —

Run Across the Mississippi River in the Big River Crossing Half-Marathon & 5K. It’s time to start training for one of the coolest and most unique races in the area: The Big River Half-Marathon & 5K. This half-marathon is the only one of its kind to allow participants to cross the Arkansas- Tennessee state line via the Big River Crossing. Both races begin at Tom Lee Park, but will take runners in two different directions. The 5K will direct runners through Downtown Memphis, and the half-marathon will bring runners down Riverside Drive, and then over Big River Crossing through the Big River Trail, a 7-mile paved path through the Arkansas floodplains with beautiful riverside views. Sunday, Nov 2, — 5K starts at 8 a.m.; half-marathon starts at 8:30 a.m. 5K Early Bird registration $25 (Rates go up after Aug. 31). Half-marathon Early Bird registration $75 (Rates go up after Aug. 31). ***

• Border Wars Tri-State Softball Tournament —

Saturday Aug. 31-Sunday Sept. 1, at the Marion Rose Softball Complex in West Memphis. Ages 8U-18U. Regional Qualifier, with the winner receiving paid berth in World Series in Branson, Missouri, or Nationals in Hot Springs. Five game guarantee. $350 entry fee.

*** Miracle League Fall Kickball — Mondays, Sept. 30 through Oct. 28, at the Cal Ripken Foundation Adaptive Field at Tilden Rodgers Park, in West Memphis.
