EAFHC to host ‘ Heart Health & Hypertension’ seminar

Forrest City Medical Center

Heart disease ranks as America's number one killer, claiming the lives of 1 out of every 3 Americans. Arkansas has the fifth highest rate of deaths from heart disease in the US. It may sound like the odds are stacked against you, but you can put the odds in your favor when you learn how to control your risk factors.

Learn what the risk factors are, which ones you can control, and how to control them at the “Heart Health & Hypertension” Lunch-n-Learn on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at East Arkansas Family Health Center in West Memphis. This program will contain helpful information on how to adjust your diet and make other healthy lifestyle changes that will drastically reduce your risk for heart disease. Program presenters Angie Vondran, RN, and Janet Benson, Marketing Director at Forrest City Medical Center, also will discuss non-traditional symptoms of heart attack and how hypertension contributes to heart disease. They also will share interesting information on how to gauge your individual “heart age” and what you can do to lower it.

The “Heart Health & Hypertension” Lunch-n-Learn, sponsored by Forrest City Medical Center, will be held at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the Community Room at East Arkansas Family Health Center, located 900 N. 7th St., in West Memphis. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is encouraged and seating is limited. Alight lunch will be served to all registered attendees. To register, call (870) 261-0444, or (870) 7336340.
