Holiday weekend turns deadly for 40- year- old mother

West Memphis Police are investigating the death of a woman found dead over the Labor Day holiday.

According to reports, the woman's neighbors told police they heard a disturbance in an apartment on Avalon Street overnight on Saturday. When they went to check on the resident the next morning, they found the woman dead.

The woman was reportedly a 40-year-old mother. Although police have not confirmed her identity, according to news reports, family members have identified her as Carla Brown.

While the official cause of death is unknown at this time, the family told Memphis news station WREG that she was “beaten and stabbed.”
