Jonesboro wins, Blue Devils beat out White Station

WM School District The Academies of West Memphis boys golf team placed second in a triangular match Monday at Meadowbrook Country Club.

Jonesboro won the match with a four-player, ninehole score of 150. West Memphis came in with a 179 and Memphis White Station was third with a 180 team score.

Three Blue Devils carded 44 for the day, including Parker Jennings, Tyler Jones and Kaiden Holt while Hayden Spears shot 47 and Carlson Bennage shot 51.

Jonesboro got a sizzling two-under 33 from Will Gibson while Spencer Jones had a solid 36, Ben Sherman shot 40 and Chandler Copeland fired a 41.

White Station's top player was Amir Hamilton, who had a 42 and Josh McCray shot 45.

In junior varsity play, West Memphis got a 51 from Trevor Pulliam, a 53 from Drew Griffin, a 60 from Brunson Langston, a 65 from Tanner Ramsey and a 67 from Wallace Crain.

In girls action, the Lady Devils were led by Ashtan Hickman, who shot 60 while Kennedy McClanahan shot 64.

In a match last Thursday at Glen Eagle Golf Club in Millington, Tenn., the Blue Devil boys finished 9th out of 15 teams in an 18-hole competition.

The Blue Devils finished with a 358 total while Marion placed 12th with a total of 365.

Jennings fired a solid round of 77 on lightningquick greens while Jones pumped in an 81.

Marion got a team-best 86 from Conner Catt while Gavin Truitt carded a 90 and Jacob Kohl shot 92.
