Jones and Jennings finish strong

AWM Golfers end up 8th and 11th, respectively

WM School District Two West Memphis golfers finished in the top 11 at the Class 6A state tournament at Mountain Home after the 36-hole affair at Big Creek Country Club.

Senior Tyler Jones finished eighth overall in the final standings with a total of 160 (+16) after firing consecutive rounds of 80 while fellow senior Parker Jennings recovered from a first-round score of 89 for a sizzling 73 on Day 2 for a 162 total and an individual finish of 11th place among 43 golfers who qualified for Day 2.

Jonesboro's Will Gibson was the run-away state champion with stellar rounds of 71 and 67 for a 6-under par total.

Gibson's closest competitor was his own teammate Chandler Copeland, who posted scores of 74 and 73 for a total of three-over par.
