Hicks to play at Trinity in the Fields

Local teen musician next up in community concert series

news@theeveningtimes.com

The next concert in the ongoing fall community music series at Trinity in the Fields Church is this Sunday, with 14-year-old West Memphis native Cameron Hicks will bring his talents to the Trinity stage.

Hicks has been playing piano for over five years and guitar for a little more than three. He says if he could start a band today, it would be a Beatles tribute band. One noted Beatles author has called him a “very special talent.”

Hicks has played many local solo shows, and he’s played intermission sets for established Memphis band, Vintage. He freely donates his time to play for local charity causes and as far away as the Paragould Rotary Club. He has competed in piano competitions for 4H as well as the Chicago Fest for Beatles Fans. He won the Beatles at the Ridge Talent Show in 2015 with his electric guitar performance of “Blackbird,” which earned him the opening act slot for GRAMMYnominated Liverpool Legends. At the age of 13, he performed on stage with author Lanea Stagg at the GRAMMY Museum in Mississippi. At this year’s Beatles at the Ridge Festi- val in Walnut Ridge, Cameron was invited to be a featured performer with four separate performances. Cameron is a rising star, currently in his own “Cavern Club” phase, and someday you’ll be able to say that “you saw him when.”

The concert begins at 2 p.m., at Trinity in the FIelds, locates at 100 E.

Military Rd., in Marion.

Sponsors includ DeltaARTS, the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Marion A& P Commission, and the Evening Times.
