Little Rock Parkview outlasts Lady Devils

West Memphis comeback falters in Marion Classic

WM School District Trailing by 18 points early in the first quarter, the West Memphis Lady Devils came charging back in the second half only to fall to Little Rock Parkview 65-62 last Friday night in the Marion Classic.

'I'm so proud we hung in there to make it a game,' said Lady Devils head coach Shelia Burns. 'We could have quit, but we didn't.'

The Lady Devils, 1-1 on the season, got a team-high 18 points from senior wing Taylor Johnson while senior point guard Paris Perkins poured in 17 and Nikki Higgs, also a senior, pumped in 11.

The Parkview girls enjoyed a huge advantage from the free-throw line. The Lady Patriots connected on 23 of 34 from the charity stripe while the Lady Devils were only 13 of 28.
