RiverKings back on top with win at home

– Devin Mantha scored a pair of goals and Dillon Fox notched a goal and an assist as the Mississippi RiverKings (9-4-0) peppered the Knoxville Ice Bears' (8-3-1) for 50 shots in a 5-3 victory in Southaven on Saturday night.

Dillan Fox scored first after picking up his own rebound and roofing a shot over goalie Dylan Wells to put the RiverKings ahead 1-0.

Chris Leone extended the lead in the first faking a shot from the high slot and then skating around to the left to beat Wells giving the RiverKings a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.

The teams combined for six goals in the second.

With Brian Billet replacing Wells to start the period for Knoxville, the RiverKings grew their lead to three on a Devin Mantha shot that beat the new Ice Bears' netminder 8:47 into the middle frame.

Kyle McNeil put Knoxville on the board with a wrist shot that beat Peter Di Salvo from Danny Cesarz to close the lead to two.

Two goals in the span of 18 seconds brough the RiverKings lead to four.

Mantha put in a Ryan Marcuz rebound for his second of the night before Cullen Bradshaw wristed a shot from Higgins past Billett to give the RiverKings a 5-1 lead.

After the goal by Bradshaw, the Ice Bears got a four-minute power play and capitalized twice.

Mark Pustin cut the Ice Bears' deficit to three before Andrew Banazza's third of the season slipped past Di Salvo and brought the RiverKings lead down to 5-3 and brought Brad Barone in for Di Salvo.

The RiverKings held the Ice Bears to five shots in the third period en route to their sixth win in five nights.

The RiverKings hit the ice again on Saturday, Dec. 3 to complete the home-andhome series with Pensacola at 7:30 p.m.
