Get your group together. West Memphis City Councilwoman Lorraine Robinson issued a call to all civic and service organizations, church and youth groups, schools and clubs, scouts, families, neighborhoods and businesses to organize teams for the 2017 Keep West Memphis Beautiful campaign.

The big day the city-wide clean-up blitz was announced for Saturday May 6. Everyone is invited to be a part of the effort.

Activities will be aimed at beautifying parks, cleaning along roadside and ditches, collecting recyclables, picking up litter and planting flowers are part of the local effort. Robinson, chairwoman of the Keep West Memphis Beautiful Commission, is the local event coordinator and offered encouragement to clean up the litter in the city and asked people to schedule the date. “So much can be accomplished when we work together to keep West Memphis beautiful,” said Robinson. “Litter can leave a negative impact on the city for years to come. By participating in this year’s Great American Cleanup, local residents can help make West Memphis a vibrant community.”

The cleanup is being held in conjunction with the Keep America Beautiful and the Great American Cleanup, and the annual statewide litter pickup campaign promoted by Keep Arkansas Beautiful.

Registration is from 8 to 8:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 6, at West Memphis City Hall, 205 S. Redding. In the event of rain, the event activities will be rescheduled

for May 20.
