MPD Graduates 5 from Police Academy

Marion officers complete training classes

Marion Police Department Jeremy A. Criss Sr., Justin Clark, Rodney DeShields, Nicholas McPherson and Luke A. Davis of the Marion Police Department were among five of a class of 57 officers who successfully completed the Basic Police Training Course class of 2017-A. The training took place at the Black River Technical College Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pocahontas.

The 13-week, 577-hour course, which began Jan. 23, included instruction in standard police tactics, firearms, DWI enforcement, Arkansas law, technical skills, practical exercises, and physical training.

In each course emphasis is placed upon the officers achieving excellence in both academic score of at least 70 percent proficiency on each examination and consistently qualify with a score of 80 percent during firearms training exercises to successfully complete all phases of the course.

Graduation ceremonies were held on April 21, at the Randolph County Development Center on the campus of Black River Technical College in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Patrolman Jeremy A. Criss Sr. and Justin Clark served as members on the color guard representing their academy class of 2017-A.
