Crittenden County Extension Office hosts Cooking Camp

CCEO Intern The Crittenden County Extension Office hosted a “Kids in the Kitchen” cooking camp last month, June 12-16, taught by Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Program Assistant, Katrina Avant, and Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Meredith Wayman.

This camp helped kids ages 6-15 learn about safe cooking and healthy eating. Throughout the week, kids were taught about portion sizes, food groups and how to safely prepare meals.

Participants prepared many types of healthy foods from each of the five food groups.

The kids enjoyed getting hands-on experience and having new recipes to cook on their own at homes. The second session of the cooking and nutrition camp is taking place this week.
