After a hot 3-0 start, the ASU Mid-South Lady Greyhounds cooled down, going 1-3 before the Thanksgiving break. The team hopes to get back home and start a new winning streak later this week.

The Lady Greyhounds raced to an 81-49 victory over Dyersburg State in their season-opener Nov. 1 at The Dog House. Javia Wilson led ASU Mid-South with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting while Alesha Penister scored 16 points while finishing with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and a team-high 8 steals. Taylor Simmons dropped in 13 points to go with 4 assists, and De'Janice Hamilton scored 11 points as she and Teiangula Boston pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds each.

Next up was a trip to Moberly, Missouri, as the Lady Greyhounds took on Lincoln Land Community College. Sable Greer and Summer Abram combined for 9 points in overtime to lift the Lady Greyhounds to an 81-76 victory over Lincoln Land.

Greer scored 17 of her game-high 27 points after halftime, and the Lady Greyhounds got 13 points from Taylor Simmons and 11 points each from Summer Abram and Teiangula Boston as they came back from a 37-33 halftime deficit to get the win.

The next day, the Lady Greyhounds used a stingy second half defense to take a 76-29 win over Malcolm X College in their second tournament game in Moberly.

Leading 30-19 at the half, ASU Mid-South held their opponent to only 10 points in the final 20 minutes as Sable Greer totaled 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 steals to lead the Lady Greyhounds to their third win in a row. The second half saw ASU Mid-South explode for 46 points as Alesha Penister scored 9 of 14 points, Taylor Simmons 11 of 13 points, and Teiangula Boston put in 6 of 10 points in the second frame. The win put the Lady Greyhounds 3-0 on the season before returning to the Dog House to host Holmes Community College on Nov. 6.

In that game, the Lady Greyhounds fell 75-70 for their first loss of the season. Teiangula Boston led the hosts with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists, Sable Greer matched her with 17 points, and Alesha Penister finished with 11 points and 4 assists. After scoring 42 points and taking a four-point lead at the half, ASU Mid-South managed only 28 points in the second frame as the Lady Bulldogs capitalized by hitting 13 of 20 free throws to the Lady Greyhounds' 3for-6 effort. For the game, Holmes shot 26-for-38 from the line while ASU Mid-South was 13-for-23 from the charity stripe.

ASU Mid-South hit the road again, taking on Louisiana State University-Eunice. Despite scoring 59 points in the second half, the Lady Greyhounds couldn't overcome a hot LSU Eunice team and fell 96-86 in Louisiana.

ASU Mid-South got 23 points from Javia Wilson and 22 points from Sable Greer, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 48-27 halftime deficit on the road. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Greyhounds was Teiangula Boston with 10 points, Alesha Penister, Summer Abram and Imani Fletcher with 8 points each, and Taylor Simmons with 7 points.

Next up was a home matchup with Northwest Mississippi on Monday, Nov. 13. The Lady Greyhounds used a staunch defense to kick start their transition game in the second overtime to take an exciting 92-84 win over Northwest Mississippi Community College at The Dog House.

Summer Abram's fifth 3pointer on the night iced the game as Abram tied Sable Greer for scoring honors with each hitting for 20 points while Javia Wilson knocked down 13 points to go with 10 rebounds, and Alesha Penister finished with 13 points, 6 boards, 4 assists and 5 steals. Teiangula Boston took top rebounding honors by pulling down 13 caroms to go with 8 points.

The Lady Greyhounds then hosted the Lady Greyhound Classic Nov. 17-18, which included a rematch of last season's District P Championship Game.

The Lady Greyhounds just couldn't find the mark against a hot St. Louis Community College team as they fell 81-63 Saturday at The Dog House.

Trailing 34-28 at the half, ASU Mid-South battled but fell short in the last two quarters against a Lady Archer team who shot 45% from the field and an outstanding 42% from the three-point line. Alesha Penister led the way in the losing effort with 15 of her game-high 23 points in the second half while Sable Greer scored all 13 of her points after the break.

The loss moved the Lady Greyhounds to 4-3 on the season entering the Thanksgiving holiday. The ladies return to action this Thursday, Nov. 30, as they tipoff a doubleheader against Itawamba Community College. The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
