Ingram to seek re-election to State Senate

State senate minority leader announces candidacy for third term

Arkansas State Senator Keith M. Ingram will seek re-election to a third term.

Ingram, a Democrat, has represented District 24 in the state senate since 2012.

He is currently the highestranking Democrat in the state. In 2013 and again in 2015, his senate peers elected him as their Minority Leader.

“Representing the people of District 24 has been a humbling experience,” said Ingram. “Quality education, affordable healthcare and good paying jobs in the Delta have always been my priorities. I intend to continue those efforts and to seek even more future state and federal money for the benefit of our communities.”

In the Senate, Ingram currently serves as Vice Chair of Transportation and as a member of the powerful Revenue & Tax Committee. Previously, Ingram served two terms (2008 – 2012) in the Arkansas House and two terms (1987 – 1995) as Mayor of West Memphis.

He was Chairman of the Southern Legislative Conference in 2014 and was named Arkansas Municipal League's Distinguished Legislator in 2009 and 2011. He also led the effort to block the Tennessee Department of Transportation's plan to shut down the I-55 Bridge. In 2015, Ingram was the recipient of the Katie's Heroes national award for his work with DNA Saves.

He earned a B.S. of degree in Secondary Education from the University of Mississippi and is a 2017 graduate of the prestigious Henry Toll Leadership program. Keith is a life-long member of First United Methodist Church and is married to Robin Lipton Ingram.

“My family has lived in Eastern Arkansas for generations,” Ingram added.

“This is home. I want to continue to do all I can to improve the quality of life here.”
