And Cool Water to Go With It

AGFC Communications The summer heat found its way back into Arkansas, so a few anglers found their way to the cooler trout streams of the state to keep cool and take advantage of a good to great trout bite going on this summer. Ed Ed Darling (pictured) of Hope headed to the White River with a friend and on Sunday, near Shipps Ferry, caught this nice brown trout. They caught browns and rainbows, which seems to be the recipe for most anglers up there. Our reporting friends at Sportsman’s White River Resort tell us that despite high water (because they’re having to run the generators at Bull Shoals because of the heat (re: air conditioning, electricity needs) and the high water at the lake, the river below has tended to fluctuate. But so has the rainbow bite, with some browns thrown in. Cotter Trout Dock also notes nice catches over the Labor Day weekend with “bountiful catches of rainbows, a fighting brown or two, and several colorful cutthroats.” The fishing also continues to be great for trout and more below the Beaver Lake Dam in the tailwater, Austin Kennedy reports.
