FBI confirms confessions of serial killer, including Arkansas victims

LITTLE ROCK — The inmate who claims to have killed more than 90 women across the country is now considered to be the most prolific serial killer in U.S.

history, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

Samuel Little, who has been behind bars since 2012, told investigators last year that he was responsible for about 90 killings nationwide between 1970 and 2005. In a news release on Sunday, the FBI announced that federal crime analysts believe all of his confessions are credible, and officials have been able to verify 50 confessions so far.

The statement included more information coming from Little himself in a taped interview detailing the still unmatched murder in Little Rock he said took place between 1992 and 1994.

Little has confessed to three total murders in Arkansas, in West Memphis, Pine Bluff, and Little Rock. Information released by the FBI on Sunday gives more information on the Little Rock murder that was not previously known to the public.

In a video posted by the FBI, Little details his murder of the Arkansas woman who he says he believed named to be Ruth. Little said it took place after a couple of days of driving and hanging out with his victim on and off.

Records show that Little was arrested in 1994 for shoplifting at a North Little Rock Kroger. He was released, and told investigators that he drove down a dirt road outside Little Rock and “manually strangled the woman to death.”

Investigators also provided new information and details about cases in Florida, Kentucky, Nevada and Louisiana.

The statement released by the FBI also says it is believed he got away with his crimes due to his choice of victims who were known for having a history of committing crimes, whether they be related to prostitution or drugs.

Therefore, many of his victims were originally deemed overdoses, or attributed to accidental or undetermined causes. Some bodies were never found.

The 79-year-old Little is serving multiple life sentences in California. He says he strangled his 93 victims between 1970 and 2005.

The FBI provided 30 drawings of some of his victims — color portraits that were drawn by Little himself in prison. They are haunting portraits, mostly of black women. Investigators around the country are still trying to piece together his confessions with unidentified remains and unsolved cases from decades past. In August , he pleaded guilty to murdering four women in Ohio. He was convicted in California of three slayings in 2013 and pleaded guilty to another killing last year in Texas.

According to ADH’s Mass Clinics list, the following clinics are available in the next 2 weeks:

• Thursday, Oct. 10 — Poinsett Co. Marked Tree Health Unit, Liberty St, Marked Tree, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Friday, Oct. 11 — Chapel Baptist Church, Hwy 115, Maynard, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and BRTC Campus, Development Center, Hwy 304, Pocahontas, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 15 — Lawrence Co. Health Unit, 1050 W. Free Street, Walnut Ridge, 3 to 7 p.m.

• Tuesday, October 22 — White Co. Searcy Health Unit, 112 Brantley, Searcy, 3 to 6 p.m.

State health officials said they can’t predict if this upcoming season will be as widespread as 2018’s flu season. However, they also said the best defense is the flu shot.
