To all the Mama’s out there

Share

This is going to be a weird Mother’s Day. I am sure there are some creative folks out there who will come up with some unique and interesting ways to make their mothers feel loved, even in a time of quarantining and social distancing.

But for others, there really isn’t much that can be done in the way of celebrating. Many of our mothers are in that at-risk age range where going to see them isn’t really a wise move. Some may even be in nursing homes, where the threat of COVID-19 is a true life-or-death scenario.

We haven’t quite figured out what we’re doing for my Mom yet. I guess we’ll go ahead and go over to her house. I’d think differently, but she’s apparently reached the end of her willingness to “shelter in place.” I know this because she lives right around the block from me and I’ve started seeing her car and my Dad’s truck missing from the driveway, and the other day, I caught her coming out of Walmart! She did, at least, have a mask on.

It reminds me of an Internet post I saw that said something like, “Well, well, well… How the tables have turned. Now it is me telling my parents to stay home and not go to parties!”

Next thing you know, she’ll be going to the flower shop to get stuff for her flower bed. She’s already a month or so behind on that, and I know she won’t hold out much longer.

But what can I do. I mean, she’s my Mama… I’m sure your mother has her own way of thinking and like mine, she will not be changing any time soon Happy (and safe) Mother’s Day, everyone!
