So today the school district sent out a text stating that there were 18 positive cases resulting in 253 quarantine and if teachers and students had been wearing mask there would have been no quarantines other than the 18 positives. Correct me if I am wrong but weren’t student required to wear mask last year and were still quarantined if they came in contact with a positive person?

[ Editor’s Note: You are correct… sort of. Yes, last year, anyone who was a “ close contact” was required to quarantine. At the end of the school year, however, new ADH and CDC guidelines were amended to include those who had been vaccinated. Under current guidelines, if you have been vaccinated, you do not have to quarantine for “ close contact.” Also, if you are wearing a mask indoors, you are no longer considered “ close contact.” If you can get the vaccine, even if you still get COVID- 19, you are not considered a closecontact risk. The Marion School District has bent over backwards to share this information and to get everyone vaccinated, holding three vaccine clinics.

The quarantines are being done in line with what the state is currently requiring. If you don’t want your kid in quarantine and they are too young to vaccinate, have them wear a mask. If they are old enough to get vaccinated, get the vaccine]

How dare you Marion school district… publicly shaming and blaming the kids and staff for the illness! Horrible and despicable. There is NOTHING requiring masks and they did nothing wrong. Y'all probably made it worse by not quarantining the vaccinated since they are now being said to be the spreaders. Wrong wrong wrong! I will be filing a complaint somewhere! [ Editor’s Note: Ha!
