I’ve been thinking a lot ….

I’ve been thinking a lot about the divisiveness that Covid has caused among Christians. I think it’s fine for us to discuss in person or even on social media (gasp) our difference of opinion as long as it’s done respectfully. I’m so happy I had the opportunity to be vaccinated. You may not be ready for it, and that’s okay. But if you’re looking for ways not to die from Covid, that’s a good one.

I’m so sad that someone at school lost her father to Covid last week. 53 seems younger and younger the closer I get to it.

I’m distressed to hear friends with Covid pneumonia being sent home from our local hospital without even a good idea of what at-home care looks like or even which pharmacy their meds were sent to, or what signs to look for to know they need to return for hospitalization. I pray often, but I am not overwhelmed with fear. Ask God to give you wisdom in your own Covid choices and to deliver you from irrational fear. He gives wisdom liberally to all people who ask because He loves us and wants us to walk in His wisdom and peace. [ Editor’s Note: I can’t quite get on board with your “ You may not be ready for it, and that’s okay” approach to the vaccine. I’m not 100% convinced you are either with your “ But if you’re looking for ways not to die from Covid, that’s a good one” follow- up. Either way, as I’ve stated before, I’m not weighing on in the COVID19 vaccination issue any more… praying is still good though, I am 100% convinced of that]

*** Years ago I recall reading this somewhere… The article said the world’s great civilizations averaged a cycle of 200 years. Those societies progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith, From spiritual faith to great courage, From great courage to liberty, From liberty to abundance, From abundance to selfishness, From selfishness to complacency, From complacency to apathy, From apathy to dependency, From dependency back again into bondage… As the United States has passed the 200th birthday, and in view of recent evidence of immorality, I ask how America’s people would assess America’s current position today? What do you think? [ Editor’s Note: This sort of thinking was actually part of an assignment my daughter was working on a week or so ago for her World Civ class. It was comparing the the rise and fall of Rome to the United States and there was some similar thought in the class discussion board ( it’s an online class).

I don’t think it’s quite as bleak as you make it out to be, but societies do indeed rise and fall. I wouldn’t necessarily write the U. S. off just yet. There are plenty of examples of great nations, like the Han Dynasty in China or the Ottoman Empire in Eastern Europe lasting hundreds of years. But you do raise some valid concerns…]

*** America, don't you see what these Democrats are doing? BLM, Antifa, teachers unions and fake news are trying to destroy our country. All of you who voted for these Democrats are just as guilty as those in office. Wake up, Sleeping Giant! These Democrats are anti-America, antipolice and anti-military.

These are Marxist, socialist radicals trying to brainwash our children under critical race theory. They are teaching our children that if you are white, you should be ashamed of your skin color. Let me say to all Black, Brown or White children, don't let anyone make you feel bad because of your skin color. These Democrats are trying to divide America by pushing racism. They know more blacks and brown people are turning to former President Trump and real Republicans. BLM doesn't care about Black people that need more police to protect them and all citizens. Thank you to all of our police that protect us in America. Wake up, Sleeping Giant! Vote these anti-America socialists out of office. Vote these school board members out who stand with these racist Democrats. Let us pray that God reward these people for all their evil they are doing to America. There is hope for all Republicans, Independents and Democrats. Be willing to repent, believe Jesus died and arose for all our sins.

Ask God to save you by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. You must be born again. [ Editor’s Note: This is a complicated message! You could select a few sentences from it and it turns into a message of unity and patriotism, but you could also select a few senteces from it and it turns into a message of bigotry and racism. I will say that trying to demonize “ teachers unions” is a bit ignorant. Also, you can’t just make up statistics for the sake of your argument.

Trump got 8% of the Black vote in 2020. It is interest-ing that all three of these messages in Text the Times today mention faith in God in them, even though they all have completely different themes]
