Stewart Title celebrates grand re-opening

Ribbon-cutting held for 130-year-old West Memphis business

Stewart Title held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, November 1st for its grand re-opening of its West Memphis of_ce located at 306 Missouri St.

“Stewart Title is proud to continue the legacy created by the Pugh family in West Memphis Arkansas beginning in 1940 through today and into the future,” said Laura Perry, Division President. “Our of_ce is excited to be a new member of the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce. We are an employer and partner in the local real estate industry, and we look forward to being a vibrant member of the community in West Memphis Arkansas for many years to come.”

Stewart Title is also celebrating another milestone, having kicked-off a year-long celebration celebrating the company’s 130th anniversary.

In 1940, Mr. Roy Pugh opened his law practice, Roy Pugh Abstract Co., in Earle, Arkansas, then relocated to West Memphis to enlarge his law practice to include abstracts, title insurance and loan closings. He then began a successful partnership with Stewart Title. In 2002, Roy’s son and long-time manager, Jim Pugh, sold the business to Stewart Title.

“We had worked with Stewart Title for years before we sold the business to them and knew our business was in good hands because of the similar family values and customer respect we both shared,” said Jim Pugh, President, Roy Pugh Abstract Co. “We are pleased that Stewart Title continues to occupy space in our building in West Memphis and the professional staff is continuing the legacy our family began years ago. We congratulate Stewart Title on their 130th anniversary!”
