to do their part in raising awareness of prostate cancer.

On Thursday, members of the group presented a check for $5,000.00 to the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation. The funds for the donation were raised though a 5K raise held in West Memphis in September which is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Around 100 people participated in the inaugural race/ walk and according to one member, Fire Chief Derrick Clay of the WMFD, will be held every year in September. According to the American Cancer Society, about one man in eight will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is more likely to develop in older men and in non-Hispanic Black men. About six cases in ten are diagnosed in men who are 65 or older, and it is rare in men under 40.
