New year's stabbing results in charges

PARAGOULD — A man was being held Monday in a Shelby County, Tenn. jail, awaiting extradition back to Arkansas in connection with a stabbing on New Year's Eve, according to Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder.

Christopher Cody Worsham, no age or town available, was arrested on New Year's Eve on suspicion of domestic battery- first degree, theft of property and aggravated assault on family/household member.

Deputies went to a home on County Road 707 on New Year's Eve about the stabbing.

As they got to the scene, authorities discovered that Worsham had already left in a vehicle and had been stabbed.

'The Paragould Police Department was able to locate the vehicle and conduct a felony traffic stop with it on Highway 412 in front of Tractor Supply. The occupant of that vehicle had been stabbed and was needing life-saving support. He was identified as the potential defendant, Christopher Cody Worsham,' Greene County deputies said in a probable cause affidavit.

Deputies discovered one person at the scene on County Road 707 was also suffering from multiple stab wounds and needed medical assistance as well. While there, deputies spoke with a witness about what happened.

'Upon talking to the son who was on scene, he stated that his half-brother (Worsham) had come to the house that morning to talk to their dad.

He stated his brother was 'talking out of his head' and was not acting right. At some point in the conversation between Christopher and his dad, he produced a sword and began to stab his dad from behind. To stop the attack, the half-brother retrieved his pocketknife and stabbed Christopher. During the exchange, the half-brother suffered a small laceration to the foot,' deputies said in a probable cause affidavit.

Deputies said Worsham then fled in a stolen 2022 Jeep Renegade.

Worsham and the victim were later airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
