Herron throws perfect game for Razorbacks in 7-0 win

Hogs overpower Shockers as part of weekend sweep

FAYETTEVILLE – Robyn Herron tossed her first career perfect game to ignite No. 14 Arkansas to a Saturday doubleheader sweep vs. Illinois State and Wichita State at Bogle Park. Herron’s legendary performance guided the Hogs to a 7-0 win vs. Illinois State before the Razorbacks overpowered the Shockers, 15-4 (5 inn.), to complete the sweep.

The seven-inning, 11 strikeout performance by Herron is the second perfect game in program history. Former Hog Mary Haff threw a seven-inning, 14 strikeout game in a 5-0 win vs. Maryland in 2022. More history was made Saturday as Bogle Park drew a record attendance of 3,549.

Arkansas improves to 12-3 on the season, including 4-1 at home.

Game 1

It was the ‘Robyn Herron Show’ against the Redbirds.

The sophomore southpaw hailing from Tampa fanned 11 across 7.0 IP en route to her first career perfect game. The feat also marks her second double-digit strikeout performance of the year. Showcasing her prowess in the circle, Herron went the distance in just 86 pitches.

The Razorbacks scored early and often as all seven runs were scored in the first three innings.

Lauren Camenzind and Raigan Kramer had strong showings offensively, chipping in a base hit and two RBIs apiece. Rylin Hedgecock continued dominating at the plate and went 2-for-3. Bri Ellis cracked her fourth home run of the season on a solo blast in the second.

Arkansas made use of a fourrun first to apply pressure to the Redbirds. With the bases loaded, Kennedy Miller was hit by a pitch to bring in the first run. Cylie Halvorson brought in the Hogs’ second run on a sacrifice fly to deep left. Lauren Camenzind’s two-RBI single pushed the lead to 4-0.

In the second, a Bri Ellis solo home run increased the advantage to 5-0.

Raigan Kramer’s two-RBI single to left center in the third made it 7-0.

Game 2

Fueled behind a 13-run fourth, the Razorback offense combined for a season-high 15 runs on 10 hits to throttle the Wichita State Shockers, 15-14, in five innings Saturday night. Three Arkansas players – Kennedy Miller, Cylie Halvorson and Raigan Kramer – compiled two-hit performances vs. Wichita State. Halvorson brought in a team-high four runs on two hits. Bri Ellis mashed her second home run in as many games.

Making her third start, Morgan Leinstock spun the first 3.2 frames, curbing the Shockers to three runs on three hits, striking out five and working around three walks.

Hannah Camenzind earned the win after entering in the fourth. Camenzind hurled the final 1.1 innings and limited opponents to one run on two hits while walking two in her outing.

It was a back-and-forth duel when Wichita State grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Arkansas responded with a two-run bottom frame for a 2-1 lead. The Shockers regained a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth.

The fourth inning was a difference- maker for the Hogs, who scored 13 runs on nine hits across 17 at-bats.

How Sweep It Is

Arkansas wrapped up the Razorback Invitational with a win over UT-Arlington Sunday at Bogle Park, a 10-0 runrule shutout to move the Hogs to 13-3 on the season.
