Democratic nominations for Arkansas House seats to be decided in April 2 elections

Local voters alreadty know who will be on the Republican side of the races to replace State Rep. Milton Nicks and State Rep. Deborah Ferguson in the Arkansas House of Representatives on Nov. 5.

Robert Thorne Jr. will be the GOP candidate in House District 35. Tammi Bell will be the candidate in district 63.

As for their opponents, that has yet to be decided.

To fill those blanks, the Crittenden County Election Commission has set the dates and times for a pair of runoff races after no candidate secured a majority of votes in the March 5 Democratic Primary for either seat. In an official Notice of Election, the commission has established early votig dates, times and location.

This notice is prepared bythe-CrittendenCountyElecion Commison to inform the public that the 2024 Preferential Primary Run-Off will be held on April 2, 2024.

The notice also provides the public information regarding this election as required by law.

Early Voting

Dates and Times:

• Tuesday, March 26, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, March 27, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m .

• Thursday, March 28, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Friday, March 29, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Monday, April 1, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There will be two EarlyVoting Locations:

• Marion Junior High School Arena, 801Carter Drive in Marion,

• Missouri Street Church of Christ, 1600 N. Missouri Street in West Memphis

ElectionDay

Election Day will be Tuesday, April 2. Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Absentee Voting

To request an absentee ballot, or to see if you are qualified to vote absentee, contact the County Clerk’s office by mail or in person at 100 Court St., Marion, AR 72364, or by phone at 870-739-4434, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.

4:30 p.m.

Ballot Canvassing & Counting

• Canvassing and counting of Absentee Ballots will be April 2, at noon. at the West Memphis Civic Center.

• Compiling and publishing of Election Results will be on April 2, beginning at 7:30 p.m., also at the West Memphis Civic Center.

• Duplication and counting of Election Day ballots, March 5, 7:30 p.m., West Memphis Civic Center.

• Provisional Ballot Hearings, if necessary, will be April 8, at noon, at the County Annex Building. Final Review and Counting of Provisional Ballots, will also be April 8, at noon, County Annex Building.

• The Post-Election Audit will be April 11, 10 a.m. to completion, County Annex Building.

Certification of Election will be April 12, 10:30 a.m. to ccmpletion, County Annex Building.

Election officials appointed to conduct early voting, election day voting, and all other required duties will be posted for public viewing in the county clerk's office on Feb. 9 and remain posted for not less than 10 days. The county clerk's office is located at 100 Court St., Marion, AR. An objection must be filed with the county clerk in writing before the following deadlines and an objection that an official is a spouse of a county, election commissioner, a county party chair, or a spouse of a county party chair must be filedwithin seven days of Feb. 9.

And objection and official was married to a candidate or related to a candidate within 2 degrees. A blood relation must be filed within 10 days of March 12.
