For a few years now, the Moms of Marion (which, you can probably figure out from their name, is a group of mothers from around the Marion community) have been a big part of bringing a series of fun, usually free, family-oriented events to the Courthouse Square and other locations around town.

The Moms, which originally began as a Facebook group, has partnered with local churches, the Chamber of Commerce, Marion Advertising & Promotions, the Rotary Club and other groups to put on a slate of activities, festivals, parties and festivals.

Two of the group’s more popular events are back on the calendar for 2024 and are coming up soon.

First up is the Crittenden County Color Run. The fun run around the Courthouse Square returns on Saturday, April 20. The event is free to enter and will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. All ages are welcome to participate and get splashed with bright neon colors as they complete the runaround. There will be a DJ, a photo booth, food trucks and more.

Then, on Saturday, June 1, it’s the return of Splash on the Square. The event was so popular last year, they had two of them!

The Marion Fire Department will be on hand to soak down the crowd and help everyone cool off. There will also be water-based games, we inflatables, bubbles, music, picnic spreads and more. Specific times for Splash on the Square will be announced at a later date.

The Moms of Marion were recently recognized by the Marion Chamber of Commerce as its Non-profit of the Month for March, noting all of the positive things the organization has done for the families of Marion and all of Crittenden County. Learn more by visiting their Facebook page.
