The West Memphis Animal Shelter held a successful adoption and fundraising event that took place on Saturday, March 23, from 10a.m. until 2p.m. at the West Memphis Tractor Supply. The community came out in full force to support the shelter’s efforts in finding loving homes for their furry residents.

The event featured Pet Picasso kits for sale, photos with the Easter Bunny for a donation, and free microchipping for West Memphis residents. There were also a variety of adoptable pets on site, all of whom were eagerly awaiting their fur-ever homes.

Adoptions and donations were greatly appreciated to help the shelter continue their important work of caring for homeless animals in the area. By attending the event and opening their hearts and homes to a new furry friend, attendees were able to make a difference in the lives of these animals.

There is good news on the horizon for the shelter as mentioned in Mayor McClendon’s recent State of the City Address as

recently members of the West Memphis community came together this past January for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new West Memphis Animal Shelter. The shelter is set to be located at the former site of the Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Center and construction is expected to begin soon. The decision to expand the shelter was made after greyhound racing ceased at Southland, leaving an empty adoption facility.
