Faith International Ministries Church hosted their _rst luncheon for seniors this past Thursday. The event, which will be held every 3rd Thursday of the month from 12 PM to 2 PM, is set to be a recurring gathering for seniors over the age of 60.

The luncheon was a hit with the community, drawing in around 60 attendees who enjoyed a delicious spread of grilled chicken, greens, cornbread, salad, mac and cheese, and more. The menu was a hit with the seniors who attended, and the atmosphere was _lled with laughter and camaraderie.

Mayor McClendon and city council members were in attendance, mingling with the seniors and enjoying the festivities. The event was hosted by Pastor King and First Lady King of Faith International Ministries Church, who were praised for their efforts in organizing such a wonderful event for the seniors in the community.

“Our seniors need somewhere to go and things to do,” said City Councilman Willis Monday, who also donated to the event along with Councilman Wayne Croom (who was not present), “Since COVID many seniors have been continued to be shut up inside and it’s important we all get out, have things to do and to be a part of the community.”

In addition to the delectable food, the seniors were treated to live music, a game of bingo, and exciting giveaways. The luncheon provided a space for the seniors to socialize, relax, and enjoy a few hours of fun and fellowship.

The luncheon is free and open to the public, and all seniors over the age of 60 (although some a few years younger might sneak by) are encouraged to come by and grab some grub. The location of the event is at Faith International Ministries Church, 806 S. 16th St.
