Volunteers come together once again for a good cause

The Make West Memphis Beautiful clean up event, spearheaded by City Councilwoman Lorraine Mohammed, was a huge success once again this year. With over a decade of clean ups under its belt, the event saw even more participants this year than in years past.

31 Volunteers from came out to lend a hand in cleaning up the city _lling up 40 bags of trash while grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers in between picking up litter around town. City Councilwoman Mohammed expressed her gratitude to all those who participated, “A special thank you to Mr. Kenneth Johnson and his kind brother for grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, and Mr James Pulliaum. and their representatives; miss Nikki Stewart and her friend, Miss Candi Denise, Miss Angela and her daughter and a big shout out to DC Lawn Service. Mr Darrin and his wife Mrs T. Christley, their son and his crew of employees. A special thanks to my daughters, Candace and Chalet. Also Mrs. Patricia Lane who is always with me in my clean up effort. One volunteer, Lance Bell, took to social media to express his pride in being a part of such a positive event for the city saying “Glad to be a part of such a positive event for our city! Thanks to the VFW Auxilliary members who put in their hard work this morning.”

Residents also had the opportunity to dispose of bulky items and other debris in Industrial Class 4 Dumpsters located at various locations throughout the city. These dumpsters were available until May 20th, giving residents ample time to clean up their properties and contribute to the overall cleanliness of West Memphis.
