Called2Grow, a faithbased, peer-led grassroots organization dedicated to fostering addiction recovery in Crittenden County, has announced that they have been awarded over $6,000 worth of naloxone from the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership.

Naloxone, also known as NARCAN, is a low-risk medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. As part of this initiative, Called2Grow will be distributing over 150 free kits of naloxone across Crittenden County over the course of the next year. Each recipient will receive training on safe administration and tools to report naloxone saves.

Brad Johnson, the Executive Director of C2G, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are dedicated to bringing overdose awareness and prevention to Crittenden County. If you struggle with addiction, you are not alone. There is help available to you.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 107,622 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2021. Recognizing the importance of community involvement in overdose prevention, any community members who wish to carry naloxone to potentially save someone from an overdose can receive free doses through this program.

Called2Grow will be conducting training classes for the public, local businesses, nonprofits, and churches. Those interested in participating in public training sessions can sign up for updates via email on the organization’s website. Additionally, businesses, nonprofits, and churches can schedule training sessions by contacting jennifer@c2g.org.

can reverse an overdose from opioids within minutes when administered in time. Naloxone is easy to use and convenient to carry, making it a valuable tool in the fight against opioid overdoses.

In addition to providing naloxone distribution and training, Called2Grow offers a range of recovery support services, including assistance with rehabilitation or sober living arrangements, transportation to these arrangements, job placements, peer support, mentorship, and advocacy. The organization is committed to transforming lives and restoring purpose, actively promoting positive change within the community to empower individuals on their journey to recovery.

The Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership (ARORP), an initiative of the Association of Arkansas Counties and the Arkansas Municipal League, plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in recovery from substance misuse disorders and families affected by the opioid epidemic. The Partnership oversees the strategic disbursement of opioid settlement dollars at the city and county levels to ensure that resources are effectively allocated to those in need.
