I am a conservative (not ….
I am a conservative (not a Trumper) and vote for the person or party that supports my values. VP Harris’s election would be disastrous for our country. She has (mostly through surrogates) flipped on immigration, the economy, crime and health care. She has stated she has not changed her values, which means if elected she will find a reason to flop back to her original positions. She’ll say anything now to get elected. To all you independents, don’t let it happen. [Editor’s Note: Man, are there any real “independents” left? To the internet … So, I found several sources, but the one that looked the least biased suggested that 44 percent of voters consider themselves “independent” – that is, not a member of a political party, with 29 percent claiming to be Democrats and 27 percent claiming to be Republicans. Now, of course, you could take that same survey and give it to a completely different group of people and get completely different numbers but it suggests a couple of things: 1) There are still millions of voters out there who don’t just vote a straight party ticket, or 2) Both parties have alienated so many people that nearly half of all voters don’t want to be associated with either of them on any kind of official level. As to the first part of your message, if you’re not a “Trumper” but you think Harris would be “disastrous,” where does that leave you, or the millions of other voters who feel the same way? We definitely have got to move away from this rigid two-party system] A word of warning to my fellow neighbors. I witnessed, and almost caught, a young (perhaps college-aged) person, slight of build with short dark hair, wearing a backpack, stealing a political sign from my front yard at approximately noon this past Friday. By the time I got out the front door, he/she was moving fast, headed south carrying my sign, and was already halfway down the next block. A word of advice to the thief: Stealing my yard sign has no “Impact” whatsoever on my opinions. They are firmly held and fully substantiated in fact. If anything, your theft only increases the irritation that I already feel. I will have a new sign. Soon. Maybe two this time. [Editor’s Note: Oh, I had nearly forgotten this little piece of election season … sign stealing. You might read this and think, “Oh, it’s just a harmless prank.” And I suppose that’s true, but it’s also a crime. Yes, it’s not only trespassing and petty theft, it could be escalated in certain circumstances. Even simply knocking down the sign is vandalism. Sure, it’s a 50 cent political sign but it’s still destruction of personal property and would be among the dumbest things I can think of to go to jail for]
