Southland Casino Hotel in West Memphis, Ark., in collaboration with parent company Delaware North, is announcing a $22,641 gift to the Dorothy Day House in support of their mission.
Southland representatives will present the organization with the contribution, which was raised during the casino’s recent “Game Changer” campaign, a program in which casino guests can drop off and gift the change remaining from slot vouchers at wishing wells on the casino floor.
Since 2020, the program has raised nearly $500,000 for charitable organizations in West Memphis, Crittenden County and Memphis, Tenn.
The Dorothy Day House was selected as the recipient of the funds from the campaign, which ran from June 1 to August 31. Celebrating 18 years of service in the Memphis community, the Dorothy Day House is committed to supporting families experiencing houselessness.
The organization provides temporary housing along with resources that include childcare assistance, nutritious food access, transportation support, benefit enrollment assistance and life skills classes. In collaboration with local agencies, staff and volunteers, Dorothy Day House creates a safe environment for families in need, empowering them to regain independence and establish lasting stability.
