Special Youth Hunt ahead of regular hunting

From the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission

11, military veterans and active duty personnel were able to enjoy the first Special Active Duty Military and Veterans Waterfowl Hunt in Arkansas this past Saturday, coinciding with the first Special Youth Waterfowl Hunt.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioners in October unanimously voted to approve special veteran’s waterfowl hunts to coincide with this year’s youth hunts, placing the Active Duty/Veterans and Youth hunts on Dec. 7 and Feb. 8, 2020.

The veterans hunt originally was approved at the federal level earlier this year as a way to show increased support for men and women who have served their country in the armed forces. The AGFC vote officially recognized this effort by allowing all active-duty military personnel and veterans who served in the active military, naval or air service and were discharged under conditions other than “dishonorable.”
