With a key starter out with an injury, the Lady Greyhounds battled hard but fell at Southwest Tennessee, 72-61, in their first game back from the holiday break. Starter Cierra Penn missed the game due to an ankle injury and will not play Monday night at UA Cossatot.

The Lady Greyhounds took a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Saluqis used a big second quarter to lead 35-23 at the half. The deficit proved just a bit too much for ASU Mid-South to overcome despite winning the second half, 38-37.

Both teams shot nearly identical percentages from the field, and the Lady Greyhounds controlled the boards, 49-43, but were again plagued by 30 turnovers to the Lady Saluqi’s 20.

Ashley Pegue led the way with 16 points while Tyler Hitchcock scored 12 and dished out a team-high 5 assists. Adrianne Chambers finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, and Aaliyah Lee finished with 9 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.

Next up is a trip to Hot Springs Saturday to play National Park College for a 2 p.m. tilt. On Monday, Jan. 13, the Lady Greyhounds will take on at Itawamba Community College at 5:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, Jan. 15, ASU Mid-South will visit Three Rivers Community College with a 5 p.m. tipoff time to conclude a long fivegame road trip.
