People of West Memphis… Have some PRIDE in your city!!!

When I drive down some parts of the city I see trash everywhere.

I know some of y’all are elderly and senior citizens but come on young folks if you don’t take care of your own property do y’all expect someone to do it for you??? Get off your butt and pick up your trash and if your grandma needs hers picked up do it for her too!!! [Editor’s Note: I didn’t notice before I deleted your message (we don’t save numbers to help everyone stay anonymous) but just after getting your text I got a picture texted in (which you’ll see below) of some tires that had been dumped on the city street. I don’t know if you sent the picture or if someone else in the community is fed up with trashy streets too, but either way, I 100 percent agree with you. It’s not my responsibility or your responsibility to clean up the whole city, but if everyone just took responsibility for their own place, we’d be a whole lot closer to a cleaner community.

And you raise a couple of very good points. We do have many older members and disabled members of our community who simply can’t go out to their yard and pick up if some loser dumps their fast food wrapper in their yards and such or mow their lawns.

If you see something, take it upon yourself to help those folks out.

No, there’s not really a reward or anything for it, but I’m sure the gesture would be appreciated] *** A group of three young girls, apparently about aged about thirteen, drove through a McDonald’s drive thru and then posted the footage on the social media platform TikTok. Fortunately, there were no tragic consequences to this event. There are so many worrying matters about this single event that it is hard to decide where to start when examining this story.

The students are at a school that charges around $22,000 for tuition and about the same again if they live at the school. The school has spoken about the welfare of the although there may be more complexities in the story as they were accompanied by a ‘guardian’ and if that was a staff member the school has surely been derelict in their duties. Schools have a duty of care for their students. How did they get a car, was it stolen or lent to them and how did they learn to drive by that age? The police may also be asking these questions and then charging people.

Crimes are crimes even at that age.

These are not unique actions nor are they unlikely to be repeated and sometimes the consequences can be tragic. The worry is that it was done for a social media posting and this is becoming a too common event and although rarely it has on occasions been fatal. Social media is a world of confusion with so much that is good and interesting but also so much that is either a waste of time or quite negative. It may be old fashioned but people doing illegal, dangerous or idiotic things to get a good post is not a good life choice. Make better choices, get a career and contribute to the world. Please.

[Editor’s Note: Until we make “being stupid” a crime in and of itself, it seems we will have no end to this sort of ridiculous behavior. While I haven’t heard of this specific incident, I’ve heard plenty of other similar acts of ignorance in the age of social media where Facebook “likes” and Twitter “re-tweets” are like currency to these folks. And since you mention that these kids were apparently from a school for the affluent, it’s worth mentioning that the wealthy, especially their children, seem to sometimes consider the world their sandbox, to play in it however they see fit] *** We need to raise the voting age to 21. It’s 21 for gambling and for buying beer. Why not voting? [Editor’s Note: Are you going to raise the military enlistment age to 21 while you’re at it? I don’t really guess I care either way, but it should certainly be the same for both, right?]
