Marion Rotary, Chamber partner to honor former County Judge with sociallydistant gathering

ralphhardin@gmail.com Most local sporting events are still on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but with some restrictions being loosened, one of the first athletic gatherings is just a couple of weeks away.

The Marion Chamber of Commerce and Marion Rotary Club partnering once again for a special event to honor a special person.

On Monday, June 1, at the Marion Golf & Athletic Club It’s the 4th annual Melton E. Holt Memorial Golf Tournament, in honor of the longtime Crittenden County Judge, just aheat of the fifth anniversary of his death.

Holt passed away on June 5, 2015 at his home in Marion. His health had been impacted by a 2011 motorcycle accident. He served as Crittenden County Tax Collector for 26 years and then as County Judge for 12 years.

The tourney is being conducted under strict social distancing guidelines and other precautions to ensure participants’ safety during the event. Slots are still available. A fourplayer team is $500, which includes a hole sponsorship. A standalone hole sponsorship can be purchased for $150.

Registration opens at 11 a.m. on the day of the event, with lunch at 11:30 a.m., and a start time of 1 p.m. for tee time.
