Not too cool for big trout

Cooler weather often means the fishing heats up

Arkansas Wildlife Editor Winter, or even those frigid late falls we sometimes get in Arkansas, hasn't arrived yet. But the waters have cooled in the big lakes and streams, and our trout fisheries are in great condition for fishing, too. Big rainbows are being pulled out of the Spring River, as these photos from guide Mark Crawford indicate.

That's Leslie Allen in the photo top right with an armful of rainbow trout, while Chris Allen caughthis limit while being guided on the Spring River this past week by Crawford.

The Spring River, in northeast Arkansas is running clear these days and 'looking great,' Crawford says.

The catching is 'really hot on most days,' he adds. For more on the Spring River, or to find out how other spots are doing around the state, follow along in this week’s regional fishing reports in the online edition of the Evening Times.
