Elected officials sworn in on New Year’s Day

Many politicians from around the county took their oaths of of_ce on New Year’s Day at Judge Tonya Alexander’s of_ce in Marion. Winning candidates received a certi_cate of election signed by the county board of election commissioners, Dixie Carlson, Carolyn Anthony and Frank Barton.

Judge Tonya Alexander and County Clerk Paula Brown put COVID-19 protocols in place taking temperatures at the door and requiring participants to wear a mask during the ceremony.

Some candidates took the oath for the _rst time while others stood re-elected. Each af_rmed the support for the constitutions of Arkansas and the United States while faithfully discharging the duties of their respective of_ces to begin the new year and their new terms of of_ce.
