was not being sarcastic ….

was not being sarcastic about loving the snow and being prepared for emergencies. The mindset that “this will likely not happen in a long, long time” is why people in Memphis, Tennessee and some people in the state of Texas had a difcult time adjusting to inconveniences. It turned into a crisis due to lack of knowledge and being unprepared for emergencies. The scout motto “Be Prepared” applies to all of us. I encourage everyone to learn from other peoples experiences. There is nothing wrong with storing a month or two worth of water, food and fuel. [Editor’s Note: There’s a lot going on here. Let me _rst say that after the blizzard and then the tornado watch, I was a little worried we were recycling the disaster trio from 1987 for a while there. I think using “had a dif_cult time adjusting to inconveniences” to describe negative temperatures and no electricity is downplaying it just a little bit. Now while I only lasted a couple of meetings in Cub Scouts, I do agree that being prepared is a great idea. Having said that, I am willing to bet that many folks around here don’t have the _nancial means to sit on “a month or two” in food, water and fuel, and even if they did, where would they keep it? There’s nothing inherently wrong with what you’re saying. It’s just impractical for a lot of people, especially given the rarity with which this sort of thing occurs] After reading the article about Gordon Floyd, after him now facing drug charges this time, I was appalled to see that his punishment from Mayor Fogleman, possibly a personal friend, something a parent would do to their child. He basically got part of his allowance taken away, can only drive to and from school and will be subject to, that means possibly, not mean mandatory drug testing. In a city position, and in a city owned vehicle, you would think this would be immediate termination as it is for most employees of other companies, especially since he’s stolen from the department before and now this. He has been criticized numerous times in this paper by people in the city for the job he does or doesn’t do. Is this another example of “the good ole boys” we’ve heard about for years? Sure looks that way. [Editor’s Note: As I was reading this, I really wanted to come to Mr. Floyd’s defense. Not because what he did was OK, but because I really only know him through the big Bikes for Tykes bicycle drive for needy kids he and some of his buddies put together every Christmas. Also, the Street Department _xed a bad pothole on my street that literally only affected me and the Amazon, UPS and Domino’s Pizza guys that visit my house. So, he’s good in my book. But, yeah, that’s not a good look for him, and not a good look for the city leadership. He probably should have been _red. I mean, sure, he might do a good job, but I bet they could _nd someone to do a good job and not smoke weed in a city truck] When everyone go to doctors ofce workers & patients all wear mask & it should be the same at the veterinary ofce because COVID can be transmitted there to people & animals! Now there are new strands & people are dying. Those same people wear mask when they have to go to doctor why not help out your customers and their animals. I really need help for my dog but afraid to go to the vet my vet closed this past December they sure was wonderful! God bless America in Jesus name. [Editor’s Note: Well, it should actually be “When everyone goes … they should all wear a mask.” End of sentence. At the doctor’s of_ce, at the vets’ of_ce, at school, at the barber shop, at the grocery store. There’s a mask mandate across the entire state. And you know what? These masks suck. I hate them, but I’m going to keep wearing mine. And you should keep wearing yours. If all goes well, the governor is lifting the mandate on March 31. How about we all cooperate until then, hit those benchmark numbers, and then take the mask off if you want to?]
