Silver Alert issued for missing West Memphis man

Columbus Hayes Jr., 79, missing since Saturday

news@theeveningtimes.com The Arkansas State Police and Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office continued spearheading the search for an elderly man reportedly in late stages of dementia missing since Saturday evening. Crittenden County Chief Investigator Todd Grooms said police issued a Silver Alert after 79-yearold Columbus Hayes, Jr., was last seen walking from Jeanette toward Shearerville.

“He was last seen about 5 p.m. Saturday evening,” said Grooms. “He was walking towards Kitchen’s Bait Shop and Restaurant. I was told he was in later stages of dementia.”

Hayes last known location was 2347 Jeanette Road near Bingston Road wearing black Khaki slacks, and a green checkered shirt, weighing 180 pounds and standing five feet seven inches tall.

Grooms asked anyone with information to contact the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office at (870) 702-2000.
