H ello, I am trying to _nd

a newspaper article that was run in the Evening Times in October or November of 1999 about my uncle being killed in a car crash. Is there some way of getting older issues of the paper? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

[Editor’s Note: Sorry, I’m afraid I can’t help you there. Most of the Times’ archives were lost in a _re back in 2006. Since that time, we have pretty reliable digital back issues, as long as you can narrow it down to a window of a week or so. As far as anything before that, I have been told on more than one occasion that the Memphis Public Library and the Little Rock Public Library did, at one time, have a large cache of our paper (and other regional papers), but I don’t know how thorough they are or even if they still do that.

Anyway, I hope this helps. I will offer, if you would like, to try to help you with any online searches if you want to provide me with more details to work with, like your uncle’s name or any other vital info. Good luck with your search!]

Memphis today. I understand that the bridge is out but whatever they were trying to _x with all the changes it DID NOT WORK! It is worse than before. [Editor’s Note: I see this was sent on Saturday. I have heard that the traf_c is much better this week since they completed the work on I-55 that they had started. In any event, I feel your pain. My wife and daughter had a doctor’s appointment at Lebonheur last Wednesday and even giving themselves a threehour window to get there, they were still pushing it to get there on time. If is was not for a doctor’s appointment they’d been waiting four months for, there’s no way they would have even tried. I’ve heard all sorts of horror stories about the trip across the river, with everything from cars running out of gas or overheating to needing to take a bottle for bathroom- related emergencies. They can not get this bridge opened back up fast enough. Come August, I’ll have a son and a daughter- in-law both living in Memphis and having to get to their teaching jobs in West Memphis, and I don’t want them (or anyone else) having to deal with that]
