As we approach the Fourth ….

As we approach the Fourth of July, we need to be aware that internal forces are trying to tear our great country down with outright lies — even in some of our local schools. While there is nothing wrong with teaching the failings of America — including racism — it is good to be reminded that our country has always been a work in progress. And, it’s important to know our history as ugly forces try to tear her down. The '1619 Project' was written to prove our country was founded on racism. The New York Times reporter who wrote it is no historian which is apparent. Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a Marxist based philosophy that every — yes every — white person is racist — even from birth.

Unfortunately this garbage is taught to some of our teachers in training at our “woke” universities. These teachers clearly have never been trained to think for themselves. And their own history training has massive failings. The good news is that parents are waking up.

In spite of teaching on electronic devices that never go home, some of our kids are telling their parents what is going on. Ask yours! Also ask your school board members. If you don’t know who they are, go online to school websites and find them.

Yes, you have a representative. Then show up and speak at school board meetings and oppose these outright lies. The state legislature hasn’t stopped this. Our respective school boards apparently aren’t going to step in and make sure the truth is what is taught unless we make them. Let them know we expect truth in our history classes and not political, made-up lies.

[ Editor’s Note: Does having a degree in history and having three papers published in a scholarly history journal make me an historian? I won’t bother worrying about that. I will bother with wondering how many dots you had to connect to get from “ Critical Race Theory” to “ Marxist” though. I’ll bet it was a lot.

Anyway, this is just more misinformation about what CRT really is. I just don’t know if it’s intentional on your part or if you’re just passing on what you believe is true. Again, CRT is only adding a through- line into already in place curriculum to highlight the role race has played in our history. I saw a great example just the other day that explained it. It was a passage about the G. I. Bill. It read, “ After World War II, many soldiers returning home were able to buy homes and go to college using money from government programs such as the G. I. Bill.” Which is 100% true. It then added the sentence, “ Unfortunately, many Black soldiers were denied access to these funds, especially in Southern states where Jim Crow laws blockes their participation.” Which is also 100% true and something you might not have known without CRT ]
