Bridge Repairs Continue

Repairmen lift a reinforcing plate into place during phase three rehabilitation of the Interstate 40 Hernando Desoto Bridge on Monday. According to TDOT, workers resumed around the clock shifts setting the first five of six plates on hand. The remaining ten plates needed for the additional work will be delivered in three shipments. The crew received the first of those final shipments on Tuesday. Officials expressed optimism about work finishing in July but left the Interstate 40 reopening date undetermined.
